Freedom Camping Ambassador
Cheviot and Gore Bay Area (Part time, fixed term)
The Hurunui District Council is seeking a Freedom Camping Ambassador to help us promote responsible camping and provide information to campers this summer season.
As our Freedom Camping Ambassador you will be responsible for talking to freedom campers to promote responsible camping and provide education on the Council's Freedom Camping Bylaw rules. You'll also provide advice on local facilities, activities, and attractions.
There is an enforcement side to this role - you may need to deal with issues such as littering and people who are not complying with the rules - so you'll need to be comfortable issuing fines and dealing with campers who are not complying with our rules. You will liaise regularly with the Council's compliance and monitoring staff and contractors.
Ideally you'll be based in or near the Cheviot and Gore Bay area. You'll be a great communicator, trustworthy, and able to relate well to a diverse range of people.
The hours of work will be 20 hours per week and predominantly evening work. Some flexibility around days of work is available, however weekend work is a requirement of the role. This role is fixed term from early December 2019 to 31st March 2020.
